Becky Cope English

Intro:

Becky is co-founder and Managing Broker of Scout Realtor Group. A hometown girl at heart, Becky had several opportunities to relocate away from Chattanooga, but says no offer ever topped staying close to family. A local public school graduate (ERHS class of ’92), Becky’s past work experiences include restaurateur, veterinarian assistant, insurance, and real estate.

Experience:

Her real estate career began in 1997, when she began working with a development group based in Los Angeles. It was the combination of New Urbanism and interest in land planning that caused Becky to get hooked on real estate development. "There is something rather magical about envisioning a neighborhood or a community and watching it come to life from the ground up," she has shared.

After spending a few years working in the world of mixed-use development around the country, Becky's real estate path took a turn to residential development and sales. In 2001, she went to work for RealtyCenter, at the time Chattanooga’s largest independently owned real estate company, where she ascended through the ranks to managing the first New Homes Sales Division in Chattanooga. In 2004, she earned her Broker’s license and founded Builder Realty Group with partners until leaving in 2007 to join a general brokerage firm when the real estate industry as a whole was experiencing a significant downturn.

Becky's passion for creating communities and mixed-use communities goes hand in hand with helping buyers find their perfect home as Becky attends most regional planning meetings and keeps an ear to the ground. In the fast-paced world of real estate, often times the perfect development is still on the drawing board or right around the corner. Conversely, she uses the same knowledge to best position properties for sale, taking advantage of timing to reach the goals of her clients. When a new development is in the planning stages, a seller may need to consider the ramifications of selling now or later. This is where Becky focuses her energies with clients - personalized marketing strategies.

Her true passion lies in community development and helping buyers find their dream homes, attending planning meetings and offering personalized marketing strategies. Becky is also an active volunteer and board member, contributing her time and energy to various organizations in Chattanooga.

Community Involvement:

Becky also serves on the Board of green|spaces as she envisions Chattanooga's growth being one of stewardship and sustainability. This organization has grown quickly and is having a positive impact through their many programs that target low-income homeowners in need of home improvements, builders, new homesowners and commerical developers.

Within the Realtor Community, Becky actively serves (or has served) on various committees within Greater Chattanooga Realtors and Tennessee Realtors.

In 2017 Becky was awarded Chattanooga Realtor of the Year and in 2018 the George Kangles Community Citizenship Award. Both awards are given as a result of nomination and voting by her peers.
